Laserscanning – A game-changing technology

Since the first commercial laser scanners were introduced 20 years ago, 3D laser scanning has evolved from a technology, that was originally the exclusive domain of experts, into a standard method of reality capture that is nowadays deployed by thousands of users in a wide field of applications. Reviewing the development of 3D laser scanning from its early stages up until today and looking at the current technological and industry drivers we can try to look into the not too distant future to see where 3D laser scanning is going, both in terms of technological development as well as its uses.
